There’s water pooling on our deck near the house
Hi. There’s water pooling on our deck near the house, and I noticed the siding right above it has dark stains. Are these related? The deck is attached right at the back wall of the kitchen. Who fixes both?

Hi. They’re very likely related, water pooling near the house often gets into the ledger and siding. We had the same thing in Greenwood and called GotRot, since they do both deck and siding work. During the Seattle Deck Repair job they found the deck sloped toward the house, which trapped water against the wall. They fixed the slope, replaced rotted ledger and siding and added proper flashing. The kitchen wall stays dry now. Honestly, one company handling both avoids finger-pointing. No stains since.
