  • One place to review games from anywhere?

I play most of my games online, but they’re split between a couple of different sites and I also have some games from local tournaments saved as PGNs. I’m getting tired of using a different analysis setup depending on where the game came from. I don’t need a bunch of training features, I just want to load a finished game, see the important mistakes and get a quick explanation of what went wrong. Is there a good free chess game review that works regardless of where I played the game?

Half the battle is keeping the review short enough that you’ll actually bother doing it after every game. Once it turns into twenty tabs and a forest of engine branches, most people lose interest before they learn anything useful. Lichess is pretty good for keeping things simple because you can import a PGN into the analysis board and run computer analysis there. Then you can jump straight to the positions where the evaluation changed and ignore the rest.

That kind of thing is exactly why I try not to turn every small task into a whole project. You sit down thinking it’ll take five minutes, and twenty minutes later you’re still digging around for the one answer you actually wanted. Game review can go the same way when a tool throws a full engine tree at you and buries the useful part. For finished games, I’d use something that cuts straight to the mistakes and explains the main moments clearly. You can do a free chess game review here: https://chessgrader.com/ . It gives you the key errors without piling on extra analysis. That makes it much easier to check a game quickly and get on with the next one.
