  • How Many Bundles Do You Actually Need for a Full, Natural Install?

Posted by Sofia Jones on September 20, 2026 at 11:23 pm

In most cases, people say that three hair bundles are the ideal amount to have a complete and realistic look. However, the exact number of bundles you will need depends on three major factors: the length of your hair, your required density, and whether you’re using them with a frontal or closure.

Bundles are priced by weight (typically around 100 grams), which means the longer the hair is, the less bulk you will have. For lengths of between 12 and 16 inches, two or three bundles should be enough to cover most of the head. As for lengths between 18 and 22 inches, three bundles should provide good fullness. But for hair longer than 24 inches, you will need to use four or more bundles in order to avoid thin and stringy ends.

Your chosen base also dictates how many tracks you can fit:

    • 4×4 or 5×5 Closure: Three bundles cover the back and sides completely.
    • 13×4 Lace Frontal: It is commonly acceptable to use only two or three bundles as the ear-to-ear lace occupies a large area.
    • Traditional Leave-Out: With three bundles, the result is a flawless mixture without additional thickness at the roots.
