How Do You Handle Sound and Balance Issues During Games?
I’ve been thinking about player safety during longer flag football tournaments, especially when there are multiple games, loud whistles, speakers, music, and constant announcements throughout the day.
Most discussions about safety focus on contact, pulls, falls, hydration, and general fatigue, but I wonder if sound exposure and balance-related symptoms deserve more attention too. If a player starts experiencing ringing in the ears, unusual sound sensitivity, dizziness, or difficulty with balance after spending several hours around loud game environments, how would you handle it?
I recently came across the term “Exposure-Related Sound and Vestibular Injury” and it made me curious about whether coaches or tournament organizers have any practical guidelines for dealing with these kinds of symptoms.
Has anyone here dealt with something similar during a tournament? I’d be interested in hearing what precautions teams take without making the game-day environment unnecessarily complicated.
