Effective 5-on-5 Defensive Schemes for Beginners
Hi everyone,
I’ve recently started coaching a local youth flag football team, and we’re struggling a bit with our defensive positioning. In our last game, we gave up too many deep passes because our players were drawn in by short underneath routes.
I’m curious to know what defensive strategies you all find most effective for a geometry dash meltdown <b data-path-to-node=”7″ data-index-in-node=”80″ style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>5-on-5 format:
<b data-path-to-node=”8,0,0″ data-index-in-node=”0″>Man-to-Man vs. Zone: Do you prefer sticking to a strict man-to-man coverage, or do you find a 2-3 zone more reliable to prevent the big plays?
<b data-path-to-node=”8,1,0″ data-index-in-node=”0″>The Rusher’s Role: How aggressive should the rusher be? Should they go for the sack every time, or focus more on mirroring the QB to block throwing lanes?
<b data-path-to-node=”8,2,0″ data-index-in-node=”0″>Handling the Center: Any tips on how to defend against a Center who quickly releases for a short pass after snapping the ball?
We have our next practice this Thursday, so I’d love to hear your advice or any “game-winning” plays you’re willing to share!
Looking forward to learning from this community.
