  • Curbing phone addiction and screen time

Posted by Joshua Cliffton on May 12, 2026 at 8:50 pm

I am straight-up addicted to my phone, and it is starting to wreck my life. The other night at a live show, I spent the entire time scrolling through social feeds while everyone else was actually enjoying the performance. My wife will be talking to me about something, and I am just staring at news articles and ignoring everything she says. I even stay up half the night looking at the screen, when I really need to be sleeping. I need to find a way to limit my usage and actually stay away from the device. What kind of apps are out there to help lock things down?

The constant pull of notifications makes it hard to focus on anything else for more than five minutes. Most people end up scrolling through mindless content purely out of habit. You could look into apps like Forest to gamify staying away or use something like Flipd for more aggressive locks. These tools provide a way to build better habits without needing constant willpower.

Endless scrolling is a constant drain on mental energy that keeps people from being present in their own lives. It is nearly impossible to quit the habit when every app is designed to grab your attention every few seconds. You can download an app that helps reduce screen time here: https://thevibelabs.com/ . This utility lets you set strict boundaries on which programs stay active during your day. It provides a real barrier so you can focus on your family or finally get some rest. You get a clear look at where your hours go so you can make a change.
