Are deep wave bundles supposed to tangle this much?
https://www.indiquehair.com/products/bounce-deep-waveDeep wave bundles can naturally tangle more than straight or loose-wave textures because the curls have more movement and can wrap around each other. However, excessive tangling usually means the hair needs a little more care.
I’d start by detangling gently with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb, working from the ends upward instead of pulling from the roots. Doing this when the hair is slightly damp can make the process easier. Avoid aggressively brushing dry curls because it can separate the wave pattern and create unnecessary frizz.
Moisture is also important. Use a lightweight leave-in conditioner or curl-friendly product to keep the bundles hydrated without coating them in heavy oils. When washing, focus shampoo on the scalp and let the water carry it through the lengths rather than rubbing the hair together.
At night, loosely gather the hair and protect it with a satin or silk bonnet or scarf. Sleeping directly on cotton can create friction, which often leads to dryness, frizz, and tangling.
Another helpful habit is not constantly touching or rearranging the waves throughout the day. The more you run your hands through them, the more likely the curls are to separate and knot.
So, some tangling is completely normal with deep wave bundles, but a consistent routine of gentle detangling, adequate moisture, and nighttime protection can make a big difference. If the hair suddenly becomes extremely tangled despite proper care, that may also be a sign that the bundles are very dry or need deeper conditioning.
