I wanted to share a warning for anyone with a newer car. My battery died and I was all set to just buy one from a garage and fit it myself like I’ve done a hundred times with older cars. But before I did, I decided to do some research and found an article that explained how modern cars are different. Apparently, many vehicles with start stop technology or European models need the new battery to be coded to the car’s computer. If you skip this step, the alternator might not charge it correctly and you could end up killing the new battery in months. Really opened my eyes.
