  • Room Acoustics Impact Video Quality

Posted by emily kessel on October 20, 2025 at 3:51 am

Interesting observation from managing our office spaces: room acoustics matter way more than most people realize for video conferencing quality. We’ve got identical equipment in three different conference rooms, but the meeting experience varies dramatically between them.

One room has carpet, acoustic panels, and sounds amazing. Another has hardwood floors, glass walls, and creates this echo chamber effect that makes everyone sound like they’re in a bathroom. The third has strange dead spots where some seats have clear audio and others sound muffled. This led us to invest in proper conference room lighting and sound calibration to fix the inconsistencies.

The technicians used specialized equipment to measure sound reflection, identify problem frequencies, and map optimal speaker placement. They also addressed lighting uniformity since our cameras were compensating differently in each room. Post-calibration, all three rooms now deliver consistent quality. It’s not just about buying expensive equipment—how you configure and optimize it for your specific space makes all the difference. Anyone else dealt with room-to-room quality variations?
