  • I’m relocating to Dubai next month for work

Hey everyone! I’m relocating to Dubai next month for work and need to buy a car pretty quickly. Coming from Europe, I have no idea how the used car market works in the UAE. Is it safe to buy second-hand? Are there any reliable platforms or should I just go to dealerships? Budget is around 80-100k AED.

<style type=”text/css”></style>Hey! Welcome to Dubai! The used car market here is actually fantastic — lots of well-maintained vehicles because of the climate (no salt, no harsh winters) and strict technical inspection requirements. Your budget of 80-100k AED gives you plenty of options — you could get a nice mid-range SUV or a decent luxury sedan with reasonable mileage. For finding cars, there are several platforms but I’d recommend checking AUTO.AE https://auto.ae/sale/car/all/ — it’s a newer platform but very well organized. They have around 17,000 listings currently, mix of showrooms and private sellers. You can filter by price, mileage, brand, specs (GCC vs American vs European). The interface shows whether a car is under warranty, service history, number of owners — really helpful info. For your budget, you could look at Toyota Land Cruiser (older models), Lexus ES, BMW X3, Mercedes C-Class — all very popular here. GCC-spec cars are generally preferred as they’re built for the local climate. Always do a pre-purchase inspection at any service center — costs about 300-500 AED but worth it. Good luck with the move!

Welcome to Dubai, Alisa! Buying a second hand car here is quite common and generally safe if you do a proper inspection. With your 80–100k AED budget, you’ll find good options on platforms like Dubizzle or Cars24, which are widely used in the UAE. Certified pre owned cars from dealerships are a bit pricier but offer more peace of mind. Also, gulfupdate24 often shares useful updates on living and working in the Gulf, so it’s a good resource to follow as you settle in. Good luck with the move and car hunt
