    Should I accept a debt settlement offer from a collection agency?

    Before accepting any settlement offer, you should first request proof of the debt. Under US debt validation laws, collectors must verify the debt’s accuracy and their authority to collect it. Without proper validation, settling could be a mistake. Once validated, you can negotiate better terms or decide if settling is the right move.
